Why do you want to work in this industry?
Don’t just say you like it. Anyone can “like” firefighting. Focus instead on your history with the industry, and if you can, tell a story.
Good answer: “When I was a young child my mother was chronically ill; asthma, allergies, diabetes, all the bad things. She was very prone to severe asthma attacks, especially during summer months, which meant my brothers and I were often home when she had an attack. We had the fortune of living a couple of blocks from a fire station. I recall clearly calling for help and waiting for those fire fighters and paramedics to respond. I vivdly recall the feeling of admiration, respect, and certainly relief when they would show up. They were always so kind, and comforting to my brothers and me while they worked on and transported my mother. I realized something special about those fire fighter/paramedics.”
