What’s your greatest weakness?
This question is a great opportunity to put a positive spin on something negative, but you don’t want your answer to be cliche – joking or not. Instead, try to use a real example of a weakness you have learned to overcome.
Good answer: “I had never been very comfortable with public speaking – which can be a hindrance. I simply had to overcome my reticence so, I embraced every opportunity to address groups: be it teaching fellow service-members, addressing key leaders in an Afghan “shura/KLE” or any other opportunity available. Since then, I’ve given a lot of presentations to a wide variety of people and I have come to truly relish those moments.”
